Lighthouse FM Volunteers
Meet Our Lighthouse FM Volunteers

Larry Penney
Larry Penney began volunteering with Lighthouse VOAR-FM back in 1983, helping Pastor Jack Freisen with the Sunday Morning Country Gospel Show, which explains Larry’s desire to hear Donna Fargo’s 1962 gospel classic “You Can’t Be a Beacon” over and over again.
Moreover, as one of our dedicated Christian radio volunteers, Larry shares his technical talents by keeping Lighthouse FM’s computers and network running smoothly.
In addition, he designed both our current Lighthouse VOAR-FM logo and the former VOAR logo.
Therefore, it’s no surprise that Larry received the 2003 ITAC, Industry Canada Community IT Hero Award for his outstanding contribution.

Steve Butt
Steve has been co-hosting the Gospel Road along with Sherry Griffin since 2004.
He loves helping out at the station by volunteering, and is also a regular co-host during Sharathon. Steve was born a townie, but he’s a bayman at heart, spending a lot of time around Coley’s Point/Bay Roberts area.
Steve and his wife, Goldie are soldiers at the Salvation Army, St. John’s Citadel. Keith Green and Petra were two of Steve’s early-life musical influences that helped him grow in the faith.
He’s a true-blue Montreal Canadiens’ fan, but we don’t hold that against him!
So tune in to hear Steve and Sherry each Saturday night from 10-11 PM as they journey down the Gospel Road.
