A Symbol of Hope Restored

by | Oct 9, 2025 | News

There are moments in life when a single event can shake us deeply but also awaken in us a renewed sense of purpose. For Lighthouse VOAR-FM, one such moment was the fire that brought down our broadcasting tower. That tower was more than just steel and wires – it was a beacon of hope, carrying words of comfort, encouragement, and faith across the airwaves to listeners in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL. When the flames silenced our signal on Friday, April 19, 2024, many hearts sank. From that loss, we discovered something powerful, the unshakable belief that light always returns after the darkest night.

We are delighted to share the wonderful news that, as of September 8, 2025, Lighthouse VOAR-FM is back on the air! After a long journey filled with applications, consultations, and careful discussions with the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunication Commission), Industry Canada, and dedicated advisors, the pieces have finally come together.

This is more than just restoring a signal—it is about renewal, faith in action, and the reward of perseverance. VOAR-FM has always been more than a station; it has been a source of encouragement and hope for listeners. Now, once again, the “Good News” is reaching homes in Happy Valley–Goose Bay, a reminder that God’s timing is perfect and His work continues through dedicated hands and faithful hearts.

As the tower rises again, we are reminded that it represents far more than technology. It represents connection—neighbors reaching neighbors, families finding hope, and voices lifting up songs, stories, and scripture that bring peace to weary hearts. The tower stands as a symbol of God’s faithfulness and shows the love of a community that would not let hope be silenced.

To everyone who stood with us, prayed for us, and helped bring this tower home, thank you. A big thank you to Stingray Radio for allowing Lighthouse VOAR FM to share the VOCM tower. Special thanks to Brian Matthews, Retired VOAR Engineer, for coordinating the transitions and traveling to Labrador to oversee the work.

Together, we are not just rebuilding steel and signal;, we are restoring light, love, and life to the airwaves. With this tower standing tall once again, Lighthouse VOAR-FM is ready to shine brighter than ever before.
